Welcome to DAS CARRETAS

Located in the vibrant heart of Madrid’s Centro district, DAS CARRETAS is a standout option for travelers seeking both convenience and charm. With a solid rating of 4.4, this boutique hostal is nestled just steps away from iconic landmarks like Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and the Mercado de San Miguel, making it an ideal base to explore Madrid’s rich architecture, bustling pedestrian streets, and lively nightlife.

Guests consistently praise the immaculate cleanliness and modern upkeep of the rooms. Bed linens and towels receive special mention for their freshness, enhancing the overall comfort. The staff’s warmth and genuine hospitality shine through, with many highlighting the helpful and attentive service, especially from the reception and cleaning teams. An added asset is the common kitchen area, promoting a homely atmosphere for longer stays.

However, prospective visitors should note that DAS CARRETAS is situated on the third floor of a historic building without an elevator. The narrow, wooden spiral staircase adds character but may present a challenge for those with mobility issues or heavy luggage. This aspect underscores the hostal’s authentic charm but requires consideration before booking.

Despite this, the location alone justifies the effort spent climbing the stairs. Within a short walk, travelers can immerse themselves in Madrid’s art scene at the Prado Museum and Royal Palace, or indulge in tapas at nearby markets. The proximity to metro stations further amplifies accessibility throughout the city.

Overall, DAS CARRETAS delivers a deeply personal and genuine Madrid experience. It balances strategic location, spotless accommodations, and thoughtful service while preserving the character of a traditional Spanish lodging. For visitors prioritizing location and an authentic stay over luxury amenities, DAS CARRETAS remains a compelling choice.

Staff are friendly and nice. The room is very clean, modern, and well-maintained. Fantastic location just a minute from Puerta del Sol, and 15 mins walk to the Royal Palace and Prado Museum.

Local maravilhoso, apenas 1 quadra do Urso na Puerta del Sol. Tu desce e tá no fervo!

Great place to stay while in Madrid. Rooms are very clean. Bed sheets and blankets are clean. It’s a tiny place just to sleep. Be warned that there is no elevator and you will climb 3 floors. It’s no disabled friendly. But for stops in Madrid, this is the spot. Close to everything. Nancy, the room manager, made sure our room was ready before check in time. There is a place to put your bags if you’re early and also if you’re leaving late for the check out.

Hostile was in an amazing location walking distance to most everything in Madrid. We stayed 3 nights and 3 days. We had two rooms (9 and 1) and one was tiny to the point that the door wouldn’t open all the way but had a nice size restroom. Room one was the opposite, nice size room but tiny tiny bathroom. I recommend not paying extra for a balcony / street looking room because it was so loud at night. Between the garbage disposal trucks, police cars, and other people staying out late it was near impossible to sleep through the night. Also very very noisy in the hallway and you can hear everyone coming in and out. For a hostil / shared space it’s to be expected. Our flight landed early and check in wasn’t until noon but there was a reception area that you could leave your bags in (unattended). Overall would stay here again for the location but will make sure I have earplugs!
